THE HEAVILIN HERALD
APRIL, 2006
Greetings everyone,
We arrived back in Redlands from Morro Bay on March 14.
We are blessed to have a nice space at Mission RV, our
favorite RV park in Redlands.
We have discovered many friends from years past who have
joined us as full-timers. They have sold their homes and
are now enjoying a life of being on the road in their
RV’s and are currently parked at Mission RV.
This week I received the first copy of the re-release of
Roses In December.
The book has been in continuous publication since 1987
and has sold more than 200,000 copies. This edition
contains a new cover and two new chapters in the
Appendices on the loss of a loved one to suicide and the
loss of a loved one to AIDS. I hope you will go to your
local Christian bookstore and encourage them to order
copies of this re-release of Roses.
Last week Glen and I joined my P.E.O. chapter on a
walking tour of the University of Redlands. A University
professor designed a sun dial on the wall of one of the
new buildings and he also designed a sun dial for one of
the Mars landers. The sun dial is very elaborate showing
standard time, day light savings time, the spring and
fall equinox and the summer and winter solstices.
Glen and I had the chance to share with our local
Compassionate Friends group last week. I have been
invited to speak at the national conference of The
Compassionate Friends in Dearborn, Michigan this summer.
Glen’s radioactive seed
implantation procedure was today. We arrived at the
hospital at 7:00 am. Glen had to fast since yesterday
morning, so needless to say, he wanted to get this thing
over with. The procedure started at 9:00 and was
finished by about 10:30. We were back home by 2:15 pm.
Our pastor, Lowell Linden came to have prayer with us
and my friend Lauren Briggs stayed with me all morning.
The doctor reported that all went as planned. Glen is
certain he was used as a human pin cushion, but he seems
to be comfortable most of the time. He is well supplied
with antibiotics and pain medicine. Please pray that the
recovery will be uneventful with no further
complications and that the little seeds will do their
job and kill the cancer.
The dedication of Nate's Place at Arrowhead Christian
Academy is set for April 26. I'm sure we will have lots
of pictures for the next Herald.
We want to thank you again for all of the e-mails and
phone calls inquiring about Glen and for all of your
prayers on our behalf. Please continue to remember us in
prayer as we serve Him wherever we go.
In Him,
