Deb with blue hair

We arrived in Olathe, KS on October 31 and left Olathe on November 28. We met Matt and Kate for dinner our first evening after arriving, and we stopped by the church to see our daughter-in-law Deb, who appeared as Queen Frostine at the Fall Festival.  Deb actually dyed her hair blue to be as authentic as possible.

Then we got to see the whole family on Sunday, Marilyn’s 75th birthday

We spent a lot of time getting to know doctors and ERs as Marilyn’s foot and ankle continues to be an issue. We had gone to an urgent care in Indianapolis because of pain in her ankle where nothing was decided. We went to the ER in Cass County because her toe seemed to be infected and her eye was bothering. The doctor gave her antibiotics for her foot saying it was an ingrown toenail and eye drops for what he called ‘pink eye.’ As soon as the antibiotics were gone, the infection in her toe came back and the drops seemed to do no good for her eye, so we went to the ER in Olathe. A blood test was taken there finally and it was decided that she had gout and did not have pink eye. The ER suggested that she make an appointment with a recommended Opthamologist and with an orthopedist to check on the ankle because the pain was increasing daily. The Opthamologist was kind and very helpful.

The Orthopedist said she did not have gout and he ordered a brace to support her ’misaligned ankle.’ The brace was to be ready on the 28th so we rearranged our schedule. The brace was  ready on the 28th, but it did not fit! The technician was obviously not happy and she planned to have a ‘talk’ with the factory. We are glad we won’t be there for her ‘talk.’ The  brace will be sent to California when it is ready. Marilyn did get a free pair of shoes out of the mishap. We sure hope the brace helps. The pain has become increasingly severe and is limiting her activity immensely . So now you know how to pray.

Potential apartments

Since we feel we should be close to one of our children, we did spend time looking at apartments, and we found one we really like. We will probably make a definite decision in the Fall of 2013. The location is ideal, about 15 minutes from the Nazarene church, about 15 minutes from Matt and near shopping and medical help. The only drawback is that they have ‘winter’ in Kansas and with the Winter may come snow! The Low actually went down to 19 degrees while we were in Kansas. We are definitely drawn to the warm weather, but we are more drawn to family and another good church.

Attic Wolves

We had a chance  to see the Attic Wolves in a public performance, and we didn’t need earplugs!! We are so proud of our grandson Nate who sings and writes many of the songs. We also had a chance to host Nate and Blake, also a band member, for lunch at our RV. It was a joy to get to know Blake better and to watch those boys eat!.

We are currently near Albuquerque, NM and plan to arrive in Redlands on Sunday, December 9th and we will be going to Morro Bay in January.

Thank you so much for your prayers for Marilyn’s sister-in-law. Since June her CA125 has gone from 21,000 to 74! God is definitely at work. Karen will see the cancer doctor this month to decide what the next step should be.

Thanks for your prayers and remember to reach out to the hurting this holiday season.

Merry Christmas
