Glen as Scrooge

Well the big event for us in December was the show Scrooge which was a huge success. Marilyn attended all 8 shows and felt like she was holding her breath as she prayed that Glen’s voice would hold out for each show. Five shows in two days had really taken a toll on Glen’s voice.

Thankfully a trip to Urgent Care early Monday morning kept his voice steady (just barely) through the next three evenings of shows.

This is Marilyn speaking. “I had a front row seat to watch Glen as he prepared for this role. I was amazed at his tenacity and energy and his desire to represent the Lord well. I just kept thinking of all of the people I wished could watch him and am thrilled to know that a dvd will be available so that you can all watch him in this amazing performance.”

All in all the play was a huge success and we are so thankful for the privilege of participating in this great event.

Our Christmas was very pleasant. Our pastor and his wife joined us for a prime rib dinner with all of the trimmings here at our RV. On Christmas Eve we attended the services at our church. It is Glen’s tradition to start the service as the Prophet and by reading a passage from Isaiah.

It is our tradition to place a lighted wreath containing 3 roses in front of the Christ With Children Statue to honor Nathan and Ethan’s birthdays on Christmas Day. This year the boys would be 45 years old!

We also provided the chancel flowers on National Children’s Memorial Sunday which contained 3 white roses and two dozen red roses. We later gave a red rose to each newly bereaved parent at the World-wide candle lighting service.

Christmas week, we visited many friends and spent the evenings learning how to play Mexican Train which was one of Glen’s Christmas presents.

On New Year’s Eve we went to lunch with our friends Orv and Jean and ushered in the New Year New York time so that us ‘old’ people wouldn’t have to stay up until midnight! We got up very early and drove to Pasadena, about an hour away, on New Year’s Day to watch the Rose Parade. We had reserved seats and reserved parking. Now that’s the way to go to the parade! On the way home we had our New Year’s dinner at Red Lobster and were still home by 3:00 pm.

Saving the Mustangs - This was Marilyn's favorite float and it was awesome!

Marilyn is slowly recovering from her surgery. Of course, Marilyn thinks the recovery is taking too long and it shouldn’t hurt quite so much. Marilyn has never been long on patience! She is now wearing regular shoes most of the time, and she still uses a cane for stability.

Please continue to pray for Marilyn’s cousin Al and her sister-in-law Karen as they continue to face chemotherapy.

Our granddaughter Kate will be leaving for a two week mission trip to India in just a few days. You can log onto the India Team blog at www.teamindia2011.wordpress.com  Mostly pray for the team that they will all stay in good health, and be safe, and that many will come to Christ.

We plan to arrive at Morro Bay on January 13 and will be there for sixty days. We look forward to seeing our friends at the church in Cambria. Our pastor Lowell and his wife Shirley from Redlands will be visiting us while we are in Morro Bay. Actually we believe Shirley comes to visit the elephant seals and she visits with us when we insist that she must leave the elephant seals.☻

Because of Him,
Glen and Marilyn Heavilin
