FEBRUARY, 2014

We arrived in Morro Bay on January 16. We have experienced weather from 70 to 80°. It is hard to imagine that many of our friends are experiencing below zero weather at the same time that we are enjoying the warmth.

We started our trip in our Itasca RV on December 28 and enjoyed the cross-country trip. We experienced cold weather, but never saw snow on the entire trip. We felt the gusty winds, and watched the Glendora fire on TV the day after we had driven through that area. Yes, we felt God’s protection on this trip, but are very aware that He is our Lord regardless of the problems we might have along the way.

We have visited the elephant seals, the Monarch butterflies, and the Presbyterian Church in Cambria where we regularly attend. We have already had visitors from Redlands, Dr. Lowell and Shirley Linden. Lowell is our pastor at the Congregational Church in Redlands. We took Shirley to visit the elephant seals. Marilyn still insists that we could probably leave Shirley to watch the seals all day, and she wouldn’t notice if we were there or not.

As usual, a year seems to take its toll on our friends. There are many people who are missing from the churches both in Redlands and Cambria and the RV Park. We praise God that we believe our friends are in heaven, and we will see them again; however, we miss them here.

Marilyn’s brother has spent several days in the hospital with a severe infection in the prostate. His wife, Karen, is still battling ovarian cancer. Marilyn’s brother also had  repair work done to his shoulder. He didn’t realize how much he depended on his right arm until he had the surgery. Karen is currently in chemo therapy but her CA 125 continues to climb. We would all appreciate your prayers on their behalf. It is very hard for Marilyn that she can’t help out because she normally would.

We recently received a note from Erika, our future granddaughter in law. The date of December 27 is set for the wedding. It will be in Overland Park, so it will be near us. I imagine we will leave for California the very next day since our reservation has already been made for 2015 in Morro Bay.

We hope we will be able to spend a little more time in Redlands next winter. We spent four days in Redlands this time, and that was hardly time enough to visit our friends. At least Marilyn didn’t have to cook much!  We were blessed to see our friends:Jean Nease , Lowell and Shirley Linden, Ken and Harriett Clark and Lauren and Randy Briggs. We were also blessed to get to attend church on Sunday, so we were able to see many people on that day.

We also managed to find time to see the movie Saving Mr. Banks and we truly enjoyed it. If you have not seen it yet, we highly recommend it.

Marilyn’s health is still just so-so. She is very limited in walking . Please pray that the doctors will agree on an accurate diagnosis and proper treatment that will allow her to move much more quickly and that the pain will be gone.

Thank you so much for your continued interest and prayers for our health and safety.

Much love,

Glen and Marilyn
