SEPTEMBER 2014

Well, we are in September, and Labor Day is past, so I guess Fall has begun. We have been told by many people that it has been a cool summer. When we went out, it seemed quite warm to us, but we’ll take their word for it and thank God that it hasn’t been too hot.

We have had a busy time thus far. We’re expecting Jack and Carol Peterman to visit us the third week end of September, and we will be driving to Columbia, Missouri for the presentation of the John Lennon songwriters contest on September 27. I must admit it has been fun to hear the stories of the band’s fame spreading and seeing their pictures show up when we least expect it.

Oh yes, I guess I forgot to mention that the Attic Wolves have won the John Lennon songwriters contest for 2014. We are very proud of the young men in the band, including our grandsons Nathan and Caleb Heavilin. Matt has been known to fill-in when the need arises. And we are extremely proud of him too.

I have also been asked to be the main speaker for the balloon launch for our local Compassionate Friends Chapter on September 13. The program will take place at the Nazarene church in Olathe, Kansas. It does seem a little strange to be involved in TCF again after many years respite, but we feel this is what God would want us to do.

Marilyn also plans to have a small get together of some of the ladies she has met here in the apartment building on September 16. Please pray with us that this get-together will go well and that it will enable her to meet more of the women here in the apartment building. Marilyn really misses the companionship of other women.

Our health is doing fairly well. Glen has seen a dermatologist for help on a bug bite that appears to be infected. Marilyn has seen little improvement with the increase of Parkinson’s medicine. She has an appointment with the Neurologist on October 2. Please pray that the doctor will not grow weary in well doing. We are praying that God will reveal the correct diagnosis very quickly.

Please pray for our world. We have missionary friends in Northern Iraq. We have a friend whose daughter just died. Reports on the news are so discouraging that we seldom watch the news anymore. The reports of the ISIS activity are totally horrifying. Marilyn remembers when her mom used to remind her that the Bible says that the people will cry out and beg for the Lord to come. (Luke 23:30.) We feel the time is fast approaching.

Thank you so much for your interest in us and your prayer support. We count on it daily.

In His love,

Glen and Marilyn Heavilin
