The wedding went off without a hitch. It was beautiful and we enjoyed getting to know some of the people who were friends of the family. Matthew Richardson and Nate provided the background music for the dance of the bride and groom. Grandpa Glen actually danced with Kate, I guess we should say they swayed back and forth because Grandpa doesn’t really dance.

It was great fun getting to treat all of the kids and their kids to dinner on Thursday night. We especially enjoyed getting to show off our apartment to Mike and Mellyn. It was great to see them and have them share in the joy of the marriage of Erika and Caleb.

We started to enjoy Christmas morning and then Marilyn fell. So we spent much of the afternoon in the ER of the hospital so that Marilyn could get stitches in her face. It was wonderful to be so close to our Matt and Nate and his girlfriend Martha that they could come visit me in the ER. The family waited to have dinner until we could be there. We ultimately had a wonderful Christmas dinner about 6 o’clock with the family. And we shared gifts before that.

We left on the 26th and headed for California. We are currently in Lordsburg, New Mexico. The weather has been horrible and we are looking forward to the day that we are in sunny California.

New Year’s Eve was the most harrowing day in our travel history, but the good news is we arrived safely in Van Horn, Texas. We drove on black ice most of the way. We counted at least 20 cars and semi’s that had flipped over or gone off the road. We left before 11 AM and arrived in Van Horn at 8 PM! We saw 2 serious accidents and were delayed or parked on the freeway for over an hour each time. It was extremely cold and the ice never melted off of the rig. Apparently this is a very cold season everywhere. The weather was much better today as we drove from Las Cruces, New Mexico to Lordsburg, New Mexico, but we still saw snow on the ground in the higher elevations. We don’t think the temperature ever got above 40°. We went the southern route, which meant driving through Texas for 4 days, to avoid the cold weather. We do remember when our friends Jack and Carol were delayed for 3 days at Clines Corners because of the awful snowstorm. We thought we were avoiding that problem, but we were wrong.

Marilyn’s sister-in-law is not doing well. She has started chemotherapy again because her CA 125 is going so high. We do appreciate all of the prayer that you’ve offered for her, and we know she appreciates it too.

Thank you for your continued prayers for our safety and health.
