FEBRUARY, 2015

Bagpiper ZakWe arrived on January 15 and will be here for 60 days. The rock is still here! And so is the ocean! We had some special treats this year. Every evening a young man named Zak stood on the bluffs, facing the ocean and the sunset, and played on his bagpipe, Amazing Grace while he was here. We soon discovered that he plans to be part of the bagpipers’ band that was founded in Redlands and played for us at The Compassionate Friends worldwide candle lighting each December.

Polaris Slingshot sideWe also discovered that people who camp also have other interests as was displayed by the fancy car that came rolling into the park.

ZebrasWhile we were driving the Clarks to see the elephant seals, we soon discovered that William Randolph Hearst had great taste in exotic animals as is shown by the herd of zebras that conveniently stood very close to the road so that we could have an excellent picture of them.

We enjoyed our visit from Ken and Harriett Clark and also from Lowell and Shirley Linden. We enjoy each year that we get to show them new places that we have discovered since the last time they visited.

We were glad to be back at the church that we regularly attend in Cambria, but we were very saddened to learn of the recent death of our dear friend Barbara Mayberry. We also were very saddened to hear of Marilyn’s Aunt Mickey’s death just a few days before we arrived in California. Aunt Mickey was Marilyn’s last relative in her generation. Aunt Mickey was 96 and had a very close relationship with Marilyn. Please pray for the family members, Sam, Tony, Winnie, and Jodeen and their mates and children. Aunt Mickey was very special to all of us.

Please pray for the Cambria church as they are without a pastor at the moment and definitely need divine intervention for their church.

In memory of Nate, Jimmy, and EthanAlso please remember us as we will have our annual balloon launch in memory of our boys on February 10. We have invited two ladies who are dear friends from the Cambria church to join us for the balloon launch and for lunch afterwards. This is always a special time of commemoration to remember what a gift life is. We thank God every day for the life He has given us.

Marilyn’s sister-in-law is still struggling with pain. The chemotherapy treatments seem to be of less help this time around. Please pray that God will give her relief from pain and that His Will will be done.
