We are presently in Kansas, well actually in Peculiar, Missouri. We are very near the state line and spend most of our time in Kansas.. As of September 9 we will be moving into our apartment in Kansas. The biggest adjustment will be the weather. For example: this morning the AC was running at 8:00, then Marilyn saw the billowing clouds coming right toward her and moving very quickly. The wind came up and it poured rain. The wind destroyed several awnings in the RV park, but we just watched and remained unscathed.. The temperature dropped 10° in just a few minutes, but it is now 5:00 and it is 92° and no rain. Obviously the humidity is very high. We got used to the weather in California, hot and dry, 40 years ago, so now we will just get used to the very unpredictable hot and humid weather here in Kansas. Cathy and George
In the last newsletter Marilyn made a list of the people we had visited and hoped to visit during our time in Indiana. We saw Glen’s brother, George and his wife Cathy. We got to see them several times. We tried out some new restaurants with them and attended a couple of concerts including a jam session which Glen really enjoyed.
Bill and Jane
We also got to visit Glen’s sister Jane and her husband Bill.
Gladys, Jerry, Xiomie, Phillip, Isabella Huff, Marilyn
Although Marilyn did not remember to get her camera out of her purse, we were able to visit her Aunt Mickey, and her uncle Bill’s widow Elaine. We also had the joy of seeing Marilyn’s cousin, Gene, her cousin Jerry, and some of their family in Michigan.
Glen, Marilyn, Carol, Jack
We also had the privilege of driving to Bloomington and getting to see Jack and Carol Peterman. Jack and Marilyn have been friends since 1953 . They were sweethearts in high school, and now all four of us are best friends.
JD and Beth
We were able to to meet Marilyn’s nephew and his wife for lunch at Cracker Barrel in Auburn, Indiana JD’s wife Beth is expecting their first baby in October. We also had a tour of their first home. which was very impressive.
Mitchell, Carmen and Dan
We were able to see Dan Black and his kids Carmen and Mitchell. Carmen is now a freshman at Miami University in Ohio. We knew Dan’s parents before Dan was born. His dad delivered the last three of our children and Dan’s mom was Marilyn’s best friend in Indiana. We consider it a privilege that Dan always tries to see us when we are in Indiana.
Trace and Denise
We also met Trace and Denise Tucker for dinner. Trace wrote Marilyn after reading Roses in December after Denise and Trace’s son Tanner was killed in a car crash. Marilyn of course wrote back and a friendship formed. Before this we had only met Trace, so it was a special joy to finally meet Denise.
We are very excited about moving into our new apartment on September 9.. Please pray that our moving all goes smoothly. We would also ask that you pray for Marilyn’s sister-in-law, Karen. She is in a fair amount of pain and the chemo starts again on September 6.
